It’s been just three years since Google (GOOG) unveil the first machine smartphone, the relatively crude G1. But the dual announcement Wednesday of Google’s latest-generation mobile operating system, plus the Samsung phone calculated to run it, is a play to rival Apple’s (AAPL) especially popular movable operating system, iOS.
For the first time, Google, like Apple, has an in commission system for both phones and tablet computers. Dubbed “Ice ointment Sandwich” — Google likes to name its description of Android after desserts — the unified OS is expected to consequence in additional and better-quality Android apps.
